Meet Nanette

Hello and welcome. Thank you for stopping by. I am happy to tell you a bit about me. Why I started this business, why I love what I do, and why loving what I do will benefit you as a client.

I live in the beautiful state of New Hampshire, however, I am not a native. I am an ex-New Yorker, in particular, a Brooklynite who learned to love nature, mountains and the chance to grow my garden around beautiful surroundings.
I've been blessed with a wonderful and large family, which consists of two beautiful grandchildren. When not working for my clients, I enjoy experiencing nature around me whether hiking, gardening or trying to perfect my knitting skills.

I have had the opportunity to live in different parts of this great country. I have visited many states as well as a few international countries. However, I haven't traveled enough to satisfy my wanderlust. I have a bucket list that I hope to accomplish in my lifetime. It is a very special and personal goal of mine.

What led me here

Now, that you know a bit about my personal life, let me map out my career trajectory and how it led me here and how that path benefits you and your business!

The Making of an Entrepreneur
Being a single mother meant putting a lot of thought and planning into a career. It was the latter part of the '80s, and I believed the best way to build a career was working at small businesses or start-ups where you have the opportunity to gain skills much faster than in a larger corporate company. It was the beginning of the dot coms, and it was a wonderful time for growing and honing my skills in sales & marketing and grow I did.

Starting as a receptionist I quickly rose to a position as a sales associate at a small company that provided video overlay for computers, the predecessor of today's streaming video. It was an exciting time, and I gained many skills and held many positions from Channel Sales Manager to Strategic Alliance Manager. I worked for a  variety of tech.com companies that built the foundation of the internet we use today. With the dot com bubble burst of 2000, I found myself without work for a year. I spent it building a new vision board and mapping out a new career path. It was at this time I first heard of the term, Virtual Assistant, and was intrigued but focused more on looking for work.

Eventually, I found work in the marketing department of the school division of Houghton Mifflin Publishing. That lead to new skill sets in product marketing, and graphic design. I gained some wonderful marketing skills as a product marketing assistant. I learned the process of product development from concept to market. It was a wonderful experience that added to my already growing skill sets.
Life is a Series of Chapters
After three years working at Houghton Mifflin, I had the good fortune of meeting my wonderful husband who owned a home in New Hampshire. As I was renting in Boston, the decision of where we would be living was clear. My beautiful cat Cleo and I were moving to a beautiful but rural area. I learned to ski, had the White Mountains for hiking and beautiful wooded surroundings that brought out the gardener I never knew I had in me.

Finding work in a rural area can be challenging but I was lucky to find an opportunity to work for Dartmouth College in the beautiful town of Hanover, NH. I worked for 14 years at the Tuck School of Business in the career development office supporting the recruiting process. I had the opportunity to be around such great minds between the students and professors I had the opportunity to get to know. I took advantage of courses in entrepreneurship in this enriching environment. It was there that I decided to start my business as a side venture.
When Life Interrupts your Plans
I planned to build my brand, tackle the mistakes of running a business while working full-time then transition to a full-time business owner upon retirement. But life tends to interrupt plans in unexpected ways. An unexpected family crisis required an early retirement so I can be available. So I became a full-time business owner earlier than planned. But one thing a business owner knows is when life throws you a curb, you need to be flexible and adjust your goals while keeping the strategy in focus.

Going forward with vision and strategy
“The tests we face in life's journey are not to reveal our weaknesses but to help us discover our inner strengths. We can only know how strong we are when we strive and thrive beyond the challenges we face.”  ― Kemi Sogunle

I have had to adjust my plans and goals due to unforeseen personal and professional circumstances beyond my control. However, this has led me to self-discovery and new roads to travel.  My passion has been re-ignited, and my journey has led me to a place that allows me to support my clients utilizing all that I have learned along the way,  as well as what I continue to learn because it never stops. The collaborative support and services I offer my clients come from my passion for sharing knowledge, my experiences, my drive, and my desire to succeed. It is that goal that pushes me to give them the best of me and my team.

If you are struggling with what you love — your business — or if you are great at seeing the big picture but need help to ensure that nothing falls through the cracks — let’s chat! I specialize in helping small businesses organize, promote, and scale their brand to even greater levels of success. I’m helping clients right now, and I can help you too!
